For the upcoming August 4th and November 3rd elections the Secretary of State has mailed absentee applications to every voter who is not already on our permanent absentee application list.
Here are some answers to FAQ:
*Those who prefer to vote at the precinct can disregard the application(s).
*Ballots will never be sent out unless the voter submits a completed application to our office. If you send us a signed application, we are required to send you a ballot.
*The applications will allow you to request a ballot for either August or November or BOTH elections. Your preference must be marked on the top line.
*You only need to submit one application to the Clerk’s office – even if you receive multiple applications in the mail.
*Signatures are required on every application and ballot envelope and are verified against your signature on the voter registration file.
*Applications can be submitted in person, by mail, in our 24/7 drop box or by email, email@example.com
*If you didn’t receive an application, you can call our office at 248-685-8731 to request one.
*Using the dropbox or coming in person is the most reliable option. Sometimes mail or email can be delayed or misdirected. The dropbox is located at the Township Hall to the left of our front doors.
*Due to COVID 19, we are hoping voters will utilize the dropbox or other remote options whenever possible for the safety of voters and our staff.
*You can track your application and ballot status at mi.gov/vote. This site will show if and when we have received your application or ballot or when we mailed those to you.
*Absentee applications can be submitted until July 31st by mail or until August 3rd in person, but we recommend doing this as early as possible to allow you to complete the process in time to have your ballot counted.
*Voters who are temporarily staying somewhere other than their residence can indicate where they would like their ballot to be mailed. The post office cannot forward ballots, so you will need to communicate with us where to send your ballot.
*Please do not wait until election day to register to vote if you are not already registered. You can mail in a voter registration form until July 20th after that date you can register in person in the Clerk's office.
