Chairman Arrowsmith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

It was determined that a quorum was present.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

June 19, 2006 – Vice-Chairman Drury moved, Secretary Terian seconded to approve the minutes of June 19, 2006 as presented.  Vote unanimously carried.

 

CORRESPONDENCE

The Milford Memories Festival schedule of events was distributed.

 

CALL TO THE PUBLIC

There was no public present.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

PARKS & RECREATION MASTER PLAN REVIEW, SECTIONS 3 & 4, PAGES 21-34

Pages 21 through 34 of the plan were reviewed at length by the Commission.  Each Commissioner was given an opportunity to note specific changes, which were written in a copy of the Master Plan by the recording secretary to be referenced when the plan is updated.

 

Chairman Arrowsmith stated that next month Sections 5 & 6 would be reviewed along with the Mission Statement.

 

FRIENDS OF MILFORD SKATE PARK (FoMSP)

There was no one present to report on this item.

 

VILLAGE PARKS & RECREATION UPDATE

There was no one present to report on the Village Parks & Recreation update.

FALL PICNIC

Commissioner Wolfe reported that the date for the picnic is set for Saturday, October 14, 2006 from 4:00 until about 11:00 p.m.  He said some of the events could include inflatable rides, games, pony rides, crafts, face painting, food, a possible skateboard demonstration and a movie. Secretary Terian stated that he would look into obtaining a company to provide pony rides.   

 

The Commissioners discussed at length the pros and cons of purchasing vs. renting an inflatable movie screen, a sound system and projector.  Vice-Chairman Drury said he would look into purchasing an inflatable screen.

 

NORTH MILFORD ROAD ADOPT-A-ROAD PLANNING

Chairman Arrowsmith reported that Commissioner Mazzara has attended the mandatory training session and the cleanup needs to be scheduled for a day between Saturday, September 9th – Sunday, September 17th.  After discussion it was decided the tentative cleanup date would be Sunday, September 17, 2006 beginning at 1:30 p.m.

 

WEBSITE IDEAS

Chairman Arrowsmith noted that Commissioner Nasholm was compiling a list of recommended model websites, which would be emailed to the Commission once completed.

 

NEW BUSINESS

FUNDS FOR PICNIC

The Commissioners discussed their budget and how much could be spent on the picnic.  It was determined that an estimate of picnic expenses and inflatable screen purchase would be provided once more information is compiled.

 

COMMISSIONER’S COMMENTS

Commissioner Heimann inquired regarding the rezoning request at Commerce and Duck Lake Roads.
