Chairman Arrowsmith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
It was determined that a quorum was present.
May 15, 2006 –
Commissioner Nasholm requested the following change and correction: the last sentence on page one to read
…”construction as soon as possible” rather than …”construction soon if
possible.”; page two, first sentence …”Commissioner Nasholm” rather than
…”Commissioner”.
Vice-Chairman Drury
moved, Commissioner Schwartz seconded to approve the minutes of May 15, 2006 as
presented.
Vote unanimously carried.

PARKS &
RECREATION MASTER PLAN REVIEW
The Commissioners
discussed at length several ways to review the plan. After discussion it was determined to review
the next two sections at the next meeting.
The Commissioners briefly
discussed the Joint Master Plan Kickoff meeting that was held on June 12, 2006 and
the process involved in creating a joint master plan with

Commissioner Mazzara to
attend the meetings to represent the Commission in regards to the joint plan
with Commissioner Parks as an alternate.
FRIENDS OF
It was noted that all
the ramps in possession of the FoMSP were recently stolen and a skate day is
scheduled for Saturday, June 24, 2006, which is now in jeopardy of taking
place.
Commissioner Mazzara
stated that meetings have taken place between Township, Village, YMCA and FoMSP
representatives for a possible site at
VILLAGE PARKS &
RECREATION UPDATE
Mr. Bill Serchak,
Village Parks & Recreation Liaision, was not present to present an
update. Commissioner Parks, the
Township’s Liaision to the Village Parks & Recreation Commission noted that
they have selected the second Saturday in October (October 14, 2006) to hold
the joint fall picnic and that they already have plans in the making.
Commissioner Mazzara
expressed concern that both commissions should organize a joint picnic equally
and plans should be decided upon jointly and that they apparently were
not. He suggested that a meeting be set
in which both commission’s representatives could attend to plan the picnic’s
theme, agenda, activities and provide an estimate of cost. Secretary Terian stated that he would
coordinate setting up a meeting date with Village Parks & Recreation
representatives.
WEBSITE DISCUSSION
Chairman Arrowsmith
suggested viewing other websites in order to provide the Township with ideas
for enhancing the Parks & Recreation portion of their website and offered
that

NEW FIRE STATION
LOCATION
The Commissioners discussed
the possible location of a fire station at Martindale and General Motors Roads,
which would work well with the

briefly discussed the need for a safe crossing of General Motors Road for trail
users.
Secretary Terian commented
that he enjoyed reading the Master Plan.
Commissioner Nasholm
asked if there was any interest in having Parks & Recreation patches. Secretary Terian commented that ordering 50
patches would cost about $10.00 per patch.
Commissioner Mazzara noted
that he would be attending the required training on the Adopt-A-Road program
this Thursday. The Commissioners
discussed getting volunteers for their first cleanup via the volunteer email
list. Commissioner Mazzara stated that
he would be absent from next month’s meeting.
Commissioner Wolfe commented that the pond at Indian Springs
Metropark’s Environmental and
