Chairman Arrowsmith called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.

 

It was determined that a quorum was not present.

 

Chairman Arrowsmith stated that agenda items could be discussed but not voted upon.

 

CORRESPONDENCE

Chairman Arrowsmith said he received an email message from Joe Kovalchek, a Michigan State University student regarding his interest in the Parks & Recreation Commission and their activities and the response was to invite him to a meeting.

 

CALL TO THE PUBLIC

There was no response from the public.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINES

MILFORD RECREATION TRAIL

There was no discussion regarding this item.

 

FRIENDS OF MILFORD SKATE PARK (FoMSP) UPDATE

Mr. Ric Mueller, FoMSP Chairman, presented the group’s calendar of events (on file in the township office).  After discussion, Vice-Chairman Drury encouraged everyone to participate in these events, whenever possible, to show their support.

 

VILLAGE PARKS & RECREATION UPDATE

Chairman Arrowsmith noted the Mr. Serchak, Village Parks & Receation Commission Liaison was not present.

Commissioner Parks briefly discussed the following:

Spring Community Picnic date has been moved back to June.  Commissioners Bill Mazzara and Jennifer Davis (Village) are co-chairs.

A fall picnic is tentatively scheduled for October 14th.

The Village P & R is planning to purchase a banner like the townships.

A proposed mountain bike trail for Hubbell Pond Park is on the Village Councils agenda for their meeting this evening.

 

COMMISSION VACANCY

Mrs. Coni Heimann introduced herself and said that her appointment to the Commission is on the Township Boards agenda for Wednesday, April 19th.

 

ADOPT A ROAD PROGRAM

Commissioner Mazzara was not present to address this item.

 

EMAILINGS

Chairman Arrowsmith commented that a disclaimer should be added to emails sent to groups on the community email list to inform recipients how to get their address removed.

 

WEBSITE

Chairman Arrowsmith asked the Commissioners to browse other websites to determine what features could be used for the township website.

 

NEW BUSINESS

GROUP PHOTO

The group photo was canceled due to lack of a quorum.

 

ANNUAL REVIEW P & R MASTER PLAN

This agenda item was not addressed.

 

COMMISSIONER’S COMMENTS

Commissioner Terian commented that Milford needed to become a more equine-friendly community and said that Highland Township holds various annual equine activities.

 

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting would be Monday, May 15, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the Milford Police Department Conference Room.

 

ADJOURNMENT

Chairman Arrowsmith adjourned the meeting at 8:25 p.m.
