GREENWAYS INITIATIVE WORKSHOP
Chairman Schwartz informed the Commissioners about an upcoming Greenways Initiative workshop which will be focusing on Wayfinding (visual signs and lights for navigation) and Branding (the physical name and personality aspects of an organizations logo).
SKATEPARK FUNDING, EMAILS FROM WADE-TRIM (LEAH) AND VILLAGE (KEN)
Chairman Schwartz provided the following grant schedule from Mrs. Groya of Wade-Trim:

The Township met with the Community Foundation,
· MDOT submittal will be February 5, 2005 requesting $600,000.
· MDNR Trust Fund deadline is April 1, 2005, requesting $400,000.
· CMAQ Funds from SEMCOG was suggested by the Community Foundation, more information must be obtained but it appears that applications are not due until fall.

Mr. Kropp said he was part of the meeting between the Township and the Community Foundation and said the Community Foundation was very supportive of the path and the partnership with the Kensington Metropark.
Mr. Bartoluzzi spoke with the City of Westland's Park Director regarding the outdoor concrete skate park designed by Fanning/Howey, Inc. The Director shared how they had obtained funding for their $450,000 skate park, though a $300,000 Wayne County grant and fundraising efforts in the community. Their most successful was a silent auction. Mr. Bartoluzzi said his conversation was very informative. He also supplied the information he obtained to the Skatepark Citizens Committee.
Mr. Bartoluzzi also obtained skate park information from Mr. Steve Lackey, South Lyon Parks and Recreation Director. The Cities of Northville and Plymouth have jointly purchased portable skate park equipment from Sun Ramp Solutions and a modular trailer for $5,100. The equipment is shared between the two municipalities and also rented occasionally.
The Commissioners discussed the advantages and disadvantages of portable equipment.

MILFORD – KENSINGTON TRAIL LINK
Grant Schedules
The Commissioners discussed the grants being applied for and inquired on when a cost estimate, based on engineering, would be available. Mr. Kropp provided information on the grant process from Kensington Metropark's experience. Mr. Kropp reported that a maintenance and easement agreement between the HCMA and Milford Township is being drafted for filing once the trail is finished.
SKATEPARK
Chairman Ric Mueller, of the Skatepark Citizens Committee was not in attendance. Mr. Drury said the meeting will be Monday January 24, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. and noted the following:
· They are looking for adult assistance
· Someone to act as treasurer.
· A website is up and running (www.skatemilford.com).
· A bottle drive will begin in two weeks.

· Mr. Mueller has obtained use of South Hill Church for meetings on the second and forth Monday evenings of each month at 7 p.m.
The Commissioners discussed the South Hill Church offer by Youth Pastor Tom Ford or setting up some type of temporary skate park on the 10 acres of vacant land owned by the church. Much research would be required for anything to occur.

ICE RINK
Mr. Bartoluzzi invited everyone to attend the family skate night party at the Central Park ice rink Saturday, January 22, 2005, from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.
NOMINATIONS/ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 2005
Chairman Schwartz called for nominations of officers for 2005 as follows:
Chairman Schwartz nominated Marty Drury for Chairman.
Chairman Schwartz nominated Steve Wolfe for Vice-Chairman.
Commissioner Drury nominated Betty Nasholm Treasurer.
Commissioner Parks nominated Lewis Tripp for Secretary.
Chairman Schwartz asked for additional nominations and, receiving no response closed the nominations.
Chairman Schwartz moved,
Commissioner Parks seconded to accept the 2005 nominations as presented for
officers. Vote unanimously carried.
The Commissioners discussed at length the possible land swap between the Village of Milford and the former Feigley Motors site. They also discussed the Village Master Plan for parkland and potential uses of parkland.
Commissioner Drury passed out a filer for the Knights of Columbus' Free Throw Contest for 10 to 14 year olds, held at the YMCA Sunday, January 30, 2004 from 12 -3 p.m.
Chairman Schwartz wished the new Chairman Drury good luck.
