Hazardous Waste Day

Milford Township and Village Houshold Hazardous Waste Disposal Day

8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

May 19, 2012

WHO:

All Milford Township and Village residents are invited to participate. Only household hazardous waste will be accepted; no commercial trucks allowed.

WHERE:

Milford Civic Center, 1100 Atlantic St., enter from west off of Mont Eagle St.

WHY:

The average American household stores three to ten gallons of hazardous chemicals in the kitchen, basement, shed or garage that they no longer use. Improper disposal of these materials can present a significant threat to the environment. Particiapating in this hazardous waste day will ensure that your household chemicals will be either recycled or disposed of properly.

Carburetor Cleaner
Household Electronics
Car Batteries
Thinners
Printers
Drain Openers
Motor Oil
TV's, VCR's
Anti-Freeze
Household Batteries
Computer Monitors
Gasoline
Rust Solvents
Computers
Pesticides
Household Cleaners
Keyboards
Fungicides
Herbicides
Starter Fluids
Asbestos
Adhesives
Oil-Based Paints
  Please do not bring latex or water-based paints since they are not considered hazardous. Latex and water-based paints may be used as primers or allowed to dry by removing the lid then discarding with rubbish. Also, we can not take tires.

HOW:

Gather the household chemicals that you no longer use and dispose of them at Milford Civic Center on Saturday, May 19th. Village/Township personnel under supervision of trained chemical technicians will remove the hazardous waste from your vehicle. Containers should not exceed 5 gallons of liquid or 40 pounds of solid waste.

Do not mix hazardous wastes together; keep in original containers with the original labels intact.
