Voters must show their valid photo ID or fill out an Affidavit of Identity form on Election Day in order be given a ballot.
To register to vote, you must be:
A United States citizen;
At least 18 years of age by Election Day; and
A resident of Michigan and the township/city where you are applying to register.
Please note: Your application is not valid until accepted by the clerk of the township/city in which you reside. Save your registration receipt until you receive a voter ID card from the clerk in the mail. Michigan law requires your residence address and your voter registration address be the same.
Registering to vote by mail:
When registering by mail you are required to vote in person the first time unless you have previously voted in person or are at least 60 years of age or are handicapped.
